What is a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian?



A Freedom to Speak Up Guardian works independently, remains impartial and encourages and supports staff to raise concerns when they feel unable to do so through traditional routes. Guardians ensure concerns are listened to, escalated appropriately, and that staff receive feedback and support throughout the process.

What types of organisations need a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian?



Previously limited to the NHS, now any organisation registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — including primary care, social care, and private healthcare providers. All CQC-registered organisations are now required to have access to a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.

We also offer FTSU Specialist services to the voluntary sector, private sector, and education department, including charities and care homes.

What training options do you offer?



We deliver flexible Freedom to Speak Up training packages for staff. Training can be provided online or face-to-face, and is tailored to meet the specific needs and size of your organisation.



We design custom staff surveys, questionnaires and evaluation focused on psychological safety and FTSU awareness.



Can you provide interim Guardians for short-term cover?



Yes! We offer interim Freedom to Speak Up Guardians for maternity leave, long-term sickness, or short-term cover. Our experienced specialists ensure there is no disruption to staff support or CQC compliance during absences.


